Thrust tapered roller bearings are primarily designed to withstand unidirectional axial loads; they have a high load-carrying capacity and can withstand a certain degree of impact loading. They feature a compact design, have no self-aligning capability, and are intended for operation at relatively low speeds. They are commonly used in heavy-duty applications involving axial loading, such as heavy-duty machine tools, mining machinery, steel rolling equipment and large gearboxes.
